Custom-Made Coolers

Custom-made Coolers

Every machine is different - so is every cooler. Browse our custom-made coolers and tell us what your machine needs.

  • Manufactured to your CAD drawing, sample or duty parameters
  • Custom ports, mounting brackets, cores and surface treatments
  • 100% pressure and leak tested before shipment
  • OEM/ODM, prototypes and private label supported

We engineer custom-made coolers to your machine - oil coolers, intercoolers, radiators and heat exchangers - from a drawing, sample or duty parameters. The result is a production-ready cooling assembly with the right core, connections, mounting points and surface finish for the installation, supported by OEM/ODM engineering and documented quality control.

Custom-made cooling equipment is not a catalog purchase. Two machines can use the same engine or hydraulic pump yet require different heat rejection, pressure drop, fan clearance and connection positions. TH reviews the complete installation and builds the cooler around the actual duty cycle instead of forcing the application into a fixed stock size.

What We Customize

Our custom manufacturing process covers the features that determine fit, durability and service life:

  • Heat-transfer core: plate-fin, bar-and-plate or tube-and-fin construction selected for the fluid, flow rate and pressure.
  • Cooling capacity: calculated from heat load, inlet and outlet temperature targets, flow and ambient conditions. See the five-step hydraulic oil cooler calculation.
  • Core dimensions: length, width, depth and fin density adjusted to the available envelope.
  • Connections: threaded ports, SAE ports, flanges, hose barbs, elbows or welded pipe connections.
  • Mounting: brackets, feet, studs, reinforced frames and vibration-isolation points.
  • Fan and drive: 12V/24V DC, AC fan or hydraulic-drive options where the application requires forced airflow.
  • Materials and coatings: aluminum construction with black coating, corrosion protection or application-specific treatment.
  • Branding: private-label nameplates, laser marking, packaging labels and OEM documentation.

Because every detail is reviewed together, the finished assembly can be installed without modifying the machine envelope unnecessarily.

Custom Cooler Types We Manufacture

Air-Cooled Oil Coolers

An air-cooled oil cooler uses a fan and aluminum plate-fin core to cool hydraulic oil, compressor oil, engine oil or transmission fluid. It is a practical choice when cooling water is unavailable or when the system must remain self-contained.

Hydraulic Oil Coolers

Hydraulic systems generate heat whenever pressure energy is converted into work. A correctly sized hydraulic cooler maintains a stable oil viscosity and protects pumps, valves and seals. For mobile equipment, we can integrate a compact core, mounting frame and 12V/24V fan into one assembly.

Compressed-Air Aftercoolers and Intercoolers

Compressed air becomes extremely hot during compression. A custom aluminum plate-fin compressed air cooler lowers the air temperature before it enters receivers, dryers or downstream equipment. Custom intercoolers are also available for engine and industrial air systems.

Vacuum Pump Radiators

Vacuum pumps require stable temperature control to maintain performance and protect internal components. A circular or rectangular vacuum pump radiator can be designed around the pump envelope, airflow direction, coolant connections and service access.

Excavator and Construction Machinery Coolers

Heavy equipment cooling packages must resist vibration, pressure pulses and airborne dust. We manufacture excavator cooler assemblies, hydraulic oil coolers, replacement radiators and flange-connected heat exchangers for construction and mining applications.

Industrial Heat Exchangers

For equipment builders, distributors and aftermarket suppliers, we produce oil-to-air and oil-to-water heat exchangers in prototype quantities and repeat production batches. Bulk cooler cores and finished assemblies can be supplied with application-specific inspection records.

OEM and ODM Options

For OEM programs, we can follow the customer's part number, marking and inspection format. For ODM projects, we can help develop the cooling layout from the machine requirements. Contact our engineering team through the OEM/ODM service page if your project needs a dedicated development schedule.

Information Required for an Accurate Quote

To size and quote a custom cooler efficiently, send:

  1. The fluid type: hydraulic oil, compressor oil, engine coolant, compressed air or another medium.
  2. Flow rate and operating pressure.
  3. Inlet temperature, required outlet temperature and ambient temperature.
  4. Maximum allowable pressure drop.
  5. Available length, width and depth.
  6. Port sizes, positions and preferred connection type.
  7. Fan voltage, airflow requirement or available hydraulic power.
  8. Machine make and model, photos or a CAD drawing.
  9. Mounting conditions and vibration requirements.
  10. Expected annual quantity and delivery schedule.

If some data is missing, photos and the original part drawing still allow our engineers to start a technical review. We can identify what must be measured before a final quotation is issued.

How the Custom Process Works

  1. Application review: We examine the machine, fluid circuit and operating conditions.
  2. Thermal and mechanical design: The core type, fin density, dimensions and connections are selected.
  3. Drawing approval: The customer reviews the layout, ports, brackets and envelope before production.
  4. Prototype or first article: A sample can be produced for fit and performance validation.
  5. Manufacturing: Cores and assemblies are produced with controlled brazing, assembly and coating processes.
  6. Testing and inspection: Pressure, leak and visual checks are completed according to the project requirement.
  7. Export packing: Units are protected for sea freight, air freight or consolidated shipments.

Quality Control and Documentation

Every custom cooler should be treated as a critical component, not a commodity part. Depending on the project, our quality plan can include:

  • Incoming material verification
  • Core dimensional inspection
  • Vacuum-brazing process control; compare vacuum brazing vs CAB for high-pressure heat exchangers
  • Pressure and leak testing
  • Thread, flange and connection checks
  • Mounting and bracket inspection
  • Surface finish and coating review
  • Final packing and label verification

The exact inspection plan is agreed before production. This approach helps distributors and machine builders reduce installation risk and field failures.

Common Applications

Custom coolers are used in:

  • Hydraulic power units and mobile machinery
  • Excavators, wheel loaders and drilling equipment
  • Air compressors and vacuum pumps
  • Generators, power packs and industrial drive systems
  • Agricultural and material-handling equipment
  • Aftermarket replacement and OEM production programs

The application determines the priority. A mining machine may need dust-resistant fin spacing and reinforced mounting, while a compact power unit may require maximum heat transfer in a very small envelope.

Why Work With a Direct Manufacturer

Working directly with a cooler manufacturer makes it easier to control:

  • Drawing changes before tooling or production
  • Prototype feedback and design revisions
  • Material and coating selection
  • Test requirements and traceability
  • Packaging and private-label presentation
  • Repeat-order consistency

FAQ

Can you manufacture a cooler from a sample?

Yes. Send the sample or detailed photos with dimensions and connection information. We can reverse-engineer the envelope and propose a production drawing for approval.

What is the minimum order quantity?

MOQ depends on the design and manufacturing route. Prototype and sample orders can be discussed before production quantities are committed.

Can you add our logo and packaging?

Yes. Private-label marking, nameplates, carton labels and export packaging can be included in an OEM or distributor program.

How long does a custom cooler project take?

A first-article or prototype normally requires drawing review before production. Lead time depends on the design, coating, testing and quantity; the schedule is confirmed with the quotation.

Can you replace an existing cooler without changing the machine?

The best chance of a direct replacement comes from the original dimensions, mounting points, port positions and duty data. If the original design caused overheating or vibration failure, we can recommend improvements while preserving the installation envelope.
